I never set out to become a post-apocalyptic herbalist. Life has a funny way of leading you down unexpected paths, doesn't it?

It all started in my grandmother and mother's kitchen. I was just a kid, watching them brew up remedies from plants they'd gathered in our backyard and mixing up concoctions that could cure anything from a stomachache to a broken heart. Those moments, surrounded by the earthy scent of herbs and my family's quiet wisdom, planted a seed that would grow into something I never could have imagined.

Fast forward a few decades. There I was, a mom and grandma myself, with a passion for herbalism and a slight obsession with retro sci-fi. One night, after a marathon gaming session (hey, grandmas can be gamers too!), it hit me. What if I combined my love for herbs with the wild, rusted charm of those post-apocalyptic worlds? The idea tickled me. I mean, who says herbal guides have to be all serious and straightlaced? Why not inject a little fun, a dash of nostalgia, and a whole lot of "what if" into the mix?

That's how the "Wasteland Survival" series was born. I wanted to create something that would not only share practical herbal knowledge but also spark imagination. Something that would make people smile while they learned about the healing power of plants. Each book in this series is a love letter to my family's wisdom, to the Midwestern plants that have been my lifelong companions, and to the delightfully wacky world of retro-futurism. It's my way of saying that even in the toughest times (apocalyptic or otherwise), there's always room for a bit of herbal magic and a good laugh.

So whether you're a seasoned herbalist, a sci-fi enthusiast, or just someone looking for a unique way to connect with nature, welcome to this wild and wonderful Wasteland. Trust me, it's going to be one heck of a ride!
